Rolex Explorer ref. 14270 36mm Steel Bracelet
For sale at Debonar Watches: Rolex Explorer 14270, from 2000, in excellent conditions.
The 14270 Explorer has a 36mm oyster case that is distinctly Rolex. The lug to lug is 43.6mm with a height of 11.1mm: a compact watch that many will find extremely comfortable.
The Explorer 14270 has one of the cleanest and well-proportioned dials that you’ll find on any watch: simple and elegant, as every Rolex should be.
A bit of its story:
To understand the modern 14270 Explorer, we need to look to the past, to see where it came from: we can trace its roots back to 1953 with an amazing expedition to the world's highest peak. These earliest Explorer models were provided by Rolex for testing on the expedition that saw Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay conquer Mt. Everest on May 29, 1953.
While the Explorer has been in production since 1953, it took a few years for Rolex to land on the core design that we know today.
The 14270 was released at the Basel Fair in 1989 and put Rolex at the cross-section of sport and luxury.
